Beginner Class – Carpenter’s Wheel

Have you always wanted to make a quilt and just don’t know where to start. This is a perfect beginner class.  We will cover everything from cutting, measuring, threads and more.  You will learn a basic block of Half Square Triangles (HST).  You will finish the quilt top measuring 64in by 64in.  Included are the instructions and pattern.  Fabric purchased separately.
Class starts January 24th, 31st and February 7th Cost is $80.00

Machine Embroidery Workshop

Full Workshop for machine embroidery. Learn how to install a zipper on the embroidery machine, how to work with plastic, vinyl, metallic threads and more.  We will make a sewing machine design tote, a mug rug, and a zippered pouch. Cost is $60.00  Kits also available.

Do you sit in front of the TV working on a project.  This cute little caddie is the perfect organizer for all those handwork notions.  Join me for the workshop on February 1st from 10 – 3pm

Feathers More Feathers

This class is all about feathers and how to first draw them and learn to use them in a variety of ways on your quilts.  This is a hands-on class with your sewing machine.  We will cover the basic style, heirloom feather, hook feather, and so much more. 
February 14th 10am – 1pm Cost is $40.00 

 

How Does My Machine Work?

Do you have a new or new to you sewing machine?  Don’t know what all the buttons are for? Not sure what all your accessories are for.  I can help you with that.  This class is get comfortable with your machine class.  It’s not that scary.   We will go over different rules of thumb no matter the kind of machine you have.  There will also be a question period.  

Class is from 10 – 1pm February 21 Cost $40.00

Seating is limited and also available by Zoom.

Welcome to Apple Hill Quilting and Designs Studio, your quilting, sewing and embroidery home to learn new skills, to get you out of your comfort zone and try current techniques. We offer bilingual classes for beginners and advanced quilters. We are happy to help with your  pieced quilt top, tablerunner, or an intricate fibre art wallhanging. We will take the time needed to help you create your work of art and treat everyone from beginner to advanced with the same importance. We can’t wait to share our passion with you!

What to bring for Workshops

Your sewing machine in good working order with the instruction manual and a sewing kit. Sewing kits consist of the following items – needles, thread, seam ripper, scissors, straight pins, pencil/pen and paper (or notebook), quilting ruler, rotary cutter and cutting mat and an extra bobbin. Giroux Sewing Centre can provide Janome machines for those who need to borrow a machine for the day. Please call ahead to verify which machines are available. 

Please arrive between 10 – 15 minutes before class so we may begin on time

  • Register in person, by phone at613-362-4547 or by email monique@applehillquilting.com 

  • Payment must be made prior to attendance to guarantee your space in class

  • Class registration fees are non-refundable, unless we have an insufficient number of people to fill the class or if there is someone else to fill your spot. 

  • You are responsible to ensure that you get a supply list at least one week prior to class. 

  • Please respect those with allergies and refrain from wearing perfumes, scented lotions and hair sprays.

  • Be aware that some classes require pre-class preparations and homework.

  • You are required to bring your own sewing machine, and your machine must be in good working order before classes start.
